Welcome to the photo blog... *finallogowhite25.jpg
Here's where I chat about photography (SURPRISE)...  weddings (of course)... helpful ideas I hear about...  and cool things I find along the way.

Things you can expect from me...
Laughter (I write how I talk if you haven't noticed.. :)
Advice (I don't claim to be an expert...but I do claim to hear expert ideas and share them)
    Stories (but only good ones)
Contests (gotta keep you guessing somehow..)
Cheers (meaning good wishes to good people I meet)
... and a little bit bit of babbling (but hopefully always ending with a big laugh)

While this blog may not be perfect in color, shape, or words . . . I promise, it'll all be written from the heart! More than anything else... I hope that you have fun, get inspired, enjoy reading and maybe even gain a little knowledge along the way (that I'm not promising though)...

I'm so glad you've somehow navigated your way here.  Now... don't forget to bookmark it..  and come back and visit again!!

Love,
A

I've been back from Florida for less then a day and was so excited about this wedding I wanted to get some pics up as soon as I could.

The past few days have been unbelievable.  I couldn't think of a better way to kick off 2011 wedding season.  There are so many things I want to say about Loni and TJ and their wedding.  I don't even know where to begin.

As I sat and listened to the many heartfelt speeches during the dinner, it was clear to see that Loni & TJ have individually touched the hearts of so many.  Here were two people whose paths in life had been parallel for years...  separately inspiring those who crossed their paths.. but now finally their paths have joined to become one.  I have no doubt that together these two will continue in an even stronger way... to inspire and encourage each other and those around them.

And did I mention, for every heart touching moment... there was comic relief.. I'm surprised that the laughter echoing from the house didn't break any noise violations. But this too is an example of how Loni and TJ live life ...  to the fullest!!

Loni & TJ, You two are truly incredible.  Your zest for life is contagious and an inspiration. I feel so lucky to have been a part of everything.  May your lives grow better and better with everyday.  I so look forward to keeping in touch!

Love,
A

Oh.. and to every body else... did I mention that one of the biggest laughs came as TJ was getting his hair done... oh yes... TJ officially is the first groom I've had with his own hair dresser...  and boy did his buddies tease him ... (you knew I had to call you out buddy).  I should mention that TJ and I are old college friends... so I'm allowed to make fun of him :-)

T.J. and Elana Drechsel:

To those lovers looking to capture maybe the greatest day in your lives the choice of photographer just might be the most important decision of the process. It is a magical glow that surrounds a great wedding and only the best photographer can catpure that essence and transfer it to picture for ages to come....something to relive over and over again. Andrea is one of those rare photographers. If budgets come into play skimp on something else, you won't be sorry. Not only does she capture magic but in the beautiful chaos of your wedding day her positive and calm demeanor is just what you will need to live these precious moments to the fullest. She is more than a photographer. She is more than a calming affect. She is an amazing woman who has found her place in the world. Book her or else you'lll wish you had! :) We did and now our most precious day is captured in our eyes for eternity!

A few months ago I was in Detroit and Jen asked me to swing by and photograph a few maternity pictures.    I was thrilled. I hadn't seen her and Shawn since their wedding a couple years ago.  So when I was back in their area last month and they asked me to take 1 month pictures of little Tristan I was twice as thrilled.    He is such a cutie and it was so nice to hang out with the new family.

A couple weeks ago I was going through Chicago and mentioned it to Lisa and Don.  They live in Indiana, are getting married on Mackinac and were thrilled at the idea of an engagement shoot in Chicago.  I of course jumped at the chance!!  Any excuse I have to photograph Chi-town and visit that city always makes me happy.

We decided to meet downtown and wander around the city, unfortunately the 60 degree weather from the week before was no where to be found... so instead we shivered our way around the city!  None the less it was fun... we went from Millennium Park to the river walk, had a little break with Champagne at Trump Tower to celebrate their upcoming wedding (and an excuse to de-thaw)... before walking around the lower streets a bit more.

A little about Lisa and Don... they met at a dance studio!!  I love this, so of course I made them show me a few of their moves.  Can't wait to see their first dance... pressure is on you two!

I've mentioned this before but I absolutely love doing engagement shoots. Especially now that I have found the greatest guest book ever.  Its a hardcover 8x8 with matte pages individually designed... check out the design of Emily & Chris's Guestbook

About a year ago... I got a new camera to play with ... in an age with iphone, ipads, apps this and apps that... .the HOLGA is the inspiration for many of these apps. Don't get me wrong I have about 10 of these apps on my phone...  but I thought it would be fun to go back and experiment with the old school fun and excitement of the original film camera

This film camera ... created in 1981 takes you back in time... the grain...  the color... everything.   It reminds you of the excitement again of film.  Here is a camera that has only a few settings... your never quite sure what is going to turn out... and when you get the 12 images (yes only 12)  from each roll there is a thrill and excitement.. what worked  and what didn't

So here are a few experiments from the last 12 months...

from Hawaii... to Spain... to Chicago... to London ... to Italy... to of course California and Mackinac...
It's a mix of weddings... travel... and just my friends and I playing with the new camera!!

Can't wait to see what my next round of HOLGA images will turn out like...

May you all find time to play with your passion... to let go of control and see the excitement of what might come out of it!!
