Welcome to the photo blog... *finallogowhite25.jpg
Here's where I chat about photography (SURPRISE)...  weddings (of course)... helpful ideas I hear about...  and cool things I find along the way.

Things you can expect from me...
Laughter (I write how I talk if you haven't noticed.. :)
Advice (I don't claim to be an expert...but I do claim to hear expert ideas and share them)
    Stories (but only good ones)
Contests (gotta keep you guessing somehow..)
Cheers (meaning good wishes to good people I meet)
... and a little bit bit of babbling (but hopefully always ending with a big laugh)

While this blog may not be perfect in color, shape, or words . . . I promise, it'll all be written from the heart! More than anything else... I hope that you have fun, get inspired, enjoy reading and maybe even gain a little knowledge along the way (that I'm not promising though)...

I'm so glad you've somehow navigated your way here.  Now... don't forget to bookmark it..  and come back and visit again!!

Love,
A

So I've been a little MIA lately... since last I last wrote I left the island... flew to Vegas for 24 hours to attend a photography tradeshow and a Pictage event then hopped back on a plane and flew back across the country to NY... drove up to Massachusetts to spend time with the family (and ATTEMPT snowboarding... not very pretty)... then down to NY to spend more time with my family....  and now I'm back in Florida sitting in a coffee shop catching up on work.  I figured why not hit the 80 degree sun for a few days before heading home....  too bad its cloudy and rainy , that's okay... I don't mind, gives me a little time to finally blog!!!

Anyways...  while I was in Michigan I did the 3rd of 4 photo shoots with little Liam. Last I saw him he was barely sitting up... now he is crawling all over the place... we could barely get him to sit still.  It's been so neat to watch him grow...  He's definitely developing quite a little personality.  You can totally see it in his eyes...   watch it he's on the move!!!

Traci & Ken...  here you go... take a look at your little boy move.  Even though this photo seemed to be a little tricky I think these are some of my favorite pics... they really show his personality!!!  Can't wait till  I see you all again!!

While I was home for the holidays  I had the chance to photograph a friend from college and her family. I hadn't seen Kendra in probably ten years.  It was so much fun to reconnect, get to photograph her family and play with Cole (come on how adorable is this little one...  and who doesn't love Lincoln Logs!!

As usual my normal portrait shoot can't just be standing around... there has to be a little fun..it's not surprise that after I forced the Bondie's to stand outside in the freezing cold... it was only a matter of time before snowballs started flying!!

Living in CA, I don't get to see.. .participate.. or photograph snowball fights very often...  this was especially fun...  so my camera was in the cross fire ... TOTALLY worth it!!

Thanks for the fun afternoon .. .and  break from the drive home!

So I realize I am a bit behind in posting pics... its almost Thanksgiving and I'm just now posting pics from  October... but I will catch up.. I will ... I will ... I will...

Anyways, about a month ago... I hopped on a boat...  then in a car... and went on a little road trip south from the island... down to Chicago while passing through my hometown and southern Michigan.

I had a super cool engagement shoot with Katie & Tom (which you'll see later)... then I stopped and saw Traci & Ken for little Liam's second (in his 4 series) photo shoots.  Then on my way through the little lovely cornfield that is my hometown of Ovid where I had two of my oldest and dearest friends ask me to do their portraits....

First we have Traci, Ken & Liam... its so neat to watch this little one grow... I am loving this 4 series photo shoot.  It's amazing to see how a little one grows in a year!!  . . . This shoot I think Liam's new favorite thing had to have been the taste of leaves... welcome to fall Mr. Liam!!

Then I was so stoked to photograph one of my dearest dearest friends.  This girl and I have been the closest of friends since we were in grade school... now I just love seeing her with her family.  Her two little ones are the cutest things on earth and SOOO much fun... I loved playing with them in the leaves (I don't think they even realized I was taking pictures half the time)  . .Stace, Jason, Samantha & Caleb... I love you guys!!!

And to top off my weekend of portraits... a long lost friend, who I hadn't seen in over 15 years found me to take portraits of her adorable daughter Zoa....  it was incredible to see Anna after all these years and I felt incredibly honored that she asked me to photograph her little one.   Although... I think Zoa was more interested in eating twigs!!!

Man... I just love how this photo thing is bringing new and old friends back into my life... what a great excuse to get together... catch up ... and capture a piece of their lives!!

Wow.. I can't believe its only a week away from Thanksgiving... may you all have the joys of re-connection this holiday season!!

September 12, 2010 // Kids / Mackinac / Weddings
A few months ago I had a blast meeting Erika and Brad in Chicago for their engagement shoot. They were so much fun, I couldn't wait for their wedding in August on Mackinac.  The minute I met Erika, I knew her and I would get a long great. I mean how could you not.. her laughter and smile is 100% contagious and the way Brad looks at her quietly and just kinda smirks just shows how well these two work together.  Not only do these two work incredibly well together but with Erika's two beautiful daughters they make an amazing family...  with the perfect mix of love, laughter... and craziness (I still can't help but laugh at the memory of you guys singing on the boat)!!

Erika & Brad,  It was such an incredible pleasure and joy to be a part of your Mackinac Island wedding...  you two truly embrace the fun in life... from your karaoke cruise... to joining the locals for Mustache Monday (btw I still want to see this pic).  Your joy of life is an inspiration and I know it will continue through your years together!

So for some reason in the heart of this wedding season I decided it would be fun to start offering some island portrait specials.  The coolest thing is that out of the woodwork I was getting calls from all sorts of cool people,

First Stacy and her adorable family that were on vacation here on Mackinac.  Her two boys were so much fun... they were just running circles around me!  I loved it. Its amazing what you can capture in a quick 20 minutes on the island coast.

Next, I get a call from Claire and her mother, that they will be on Mackinac in a few weeks.  Claire is about to be a senior, and although she's already had one batch of senior pictures taken, Mackinac is one of her favorite places on earth and would absolutely love to have some taken here.  Now this family does it right,  2 nights staying downtown a few at the Grand Hotel.  This way they get the full island experience.  I planned for two separate photo shoots in order to document both sides of the island.  I just love doing senior portraits.

Then finally, my long lost friend Heather from high school (hadn't seen her in 15 years) shows up on the island with her family and tracked me down.  It was awesome to get to catch up and photograph her family.  Especially since she was around when I picked up my first camera.. . 7th grade, hot pink point and shoot (at least now I'm not cutting off the heads in the pics... well, unless it's on purpose)

One little last thought to leave with you with for the weekend..  this morning, the blinding sun shining in my window woke me up .. although I didn't appreciate nature's alarm waking me two hours before my actual one went off... I did appreciate that this blinding light was that of a cloud's silver lining...  it made me stop and take moment and go ahhhhhh!!  May you all be blinded by silver linings today... and not left in the shadows of clouds.

A
