My last few weeks in Cali before heading to the cold for the holidays I squeezed in a few portrait shoots...
take a look...
My first weekend back was Leo's 1st birthday party on a beach in Montecito. Then the next week it was off to San Fran for Dylan's first portrait shoot and Aoibheann's (pronounced Aveen) time in front of the camera. Finally back to Santa Barbara to photograph Ulrike and her fun family for their holiday cards.
I've said this before... it is so fun to watch families grow.. from weddings to babies to toddlers...
In case you are trying to keep track of my travels... I am currently a bit colder then usual in Michigan... just came back from the island... heading to Ohio tomorrow then back to the island for New Years... as the usual my whirlwind midwest tour in snow..
If anyone is interested in a portrait shoot I'll be around for a bit and am offering a free brag book with any standard portrait shoot.
Have a wonderful week!

I wasn't planning on blogging today... but I couldn't help it. I was just working on an album for Laura & Dale (a Mackinac couple of mine from 2009 that I got to know quite well ... I visited their home in Cincinnati... ate Skyline Chili ... and chatted camera stuff with them). Well, with all of their traveling (Africa, Asia, I think even Europe had to be in their somewhere too) we are just now getting to their album.
I tend to pick what photos I think are my favorites... play with them a bit... then make a
SLIDE SHOW(take a look)
So, its been awhile since I've sat and looked at their pics... well, I just came across this photo while putting together their album... and I just love it! It made me miss them and remember how tender Dale was with Laura. They had such a romantic love about them. This photograph was taken when Dale saw Laura for the first time alone in the grotto.

In October ... 10-10-10 to be exact... the weather was insanely warm for northern Michigan... (I was even in a tank top)... the sun was shining... and it was the perfect way end my season on the island. Two special weddings...
First ... Lisa & Sam... I have been friends with these two for years. When they asked me to photograph their wedding I was incredibly honored. I knew it would be a beautiful affair. Lisa has an amazing eye for design and Sam has a liking towards photography. I had so much fun with them... they are so laid back... anything goes... and the ceremony reflected this (and their sense of humor). I also can't write about their wedding and not mention their little one... Clooney... the most well behaved trained dog I've ever dealt with... I think Clooney liked to be photographed more than Lisa and Sam...
Then .. Heather and Evan... who you may remember from their enagagement shoot in northern California. I've had a blast getting to know these two over the past year. We met last year during the Dream Destination Wedding Weekend on Mackinac. We instantly got along since they were living in California... getting married on the island... and then concluding with a party in San Jose... what a coincidence... While they were on the island Heather & Evan decided that instead of taking the traditional carriage around the island... they would bike my tandem instead... must say... I was quite impressed that Heather was able to maneuver that dress on that bike...
SO much fun to end the season with you guys...

Okay... again .. these are a bit behind... obviously I am playing blog catchup right now... October (and November) totally slipped away from me... but here I am .. blogging away.. just pretend that instead of snow (for you Midwesterners) and 55 degrees (for you Californians) . . that's its Fall and the leaves are just changing...
So now that we are well placed in middle of October.... imagine a weekend off... okya maybe not... instead... I had not 1 ... not 2 ... but THREE last minute Mackinac Island elopements.... how fun is that!! All three with completely different stories... styles... and visions...
Take a look....
First we have Chrystal & Jack... who couldn't keep their hands off each other... so romantic... so fun... and so enjoying the moment... after a incredibly touching service at the Grand Hotel all they wanted to do was walk around the island... eat fudge... take pictures... and capture their TFK (their own special "Tender Face Kiss")...
Next we have Tori & Bill... this adorable couple are from Louisiana... had never been to Mackinac in their lives... they just wanted to go to an island somewhere... and do something unique... and luckily... they absolutely LOVED it... I kept running into them all over the island days after they were married. Every time doing a new thing... seeing a new sight... and constantly smiling!! I'd like to say it was the island that made them smile but really... I think it was each other... just look at the way they look at each other...
Lastly... we have Ivy & Kenny... these two have quite a story... Kenny is a fisherman on a boat so he travels all the time while Ivy lives in Michigan. They had a wedding planned in the Caribbean... but with passport issues it was going to have to be postponed... and so instead of waiting any longer to tie the knot Ivy contacted Carole Erbel of For The Love of Mackinac and together they created a beautiful wedding at the Iroquois Hotel in less then a week days before the island was closing for the season. Finally Ivy and Kenny are a family!!
If your thinking of Eloping... Mackinac is a great place to do it... its a gorgeous island in our backyard... no passports needed... yet its a whole different world!!
Only about 3 more blogs and I should be all caught up..
